Another Trapster and Baktrax Apps Video

Written by Mike on May 20, 2008 – 1:46 pm - 46 views

I found these demo videos for some of the Dash applications that are now available for download.  The first is the Baktrax demo.  The BakTrax app, created by MediaGuide, uses gps to find recent playlists of radio stations in your area (or anywhere else you want to plug in to the gps.)  I couldn’t find a web page directly related to this product, but it looks like a similar app is available for Iphone and can be viewed here, or another link pointed here– however, I clicked around and didn’t seem to get anywhere…

Would I use this?… probably not.  Maybe, if you are in an area you are unfamiliar with and are trying to get your daily AOR fix–

Here is a short video, again, of the Trapster app, but I’m not sure if the focus of the video is the application or the guy roaring around in the Ferrari….hmmm, but these guys look like they’re having fun.  I’ll watch a speedy car video.  Why not get the Tifosi on your side?

These guys must be up for fun.  They have some speedy videos on their site… The only thing is… who buys their GT3 in yellow??? Mine is rizzo, baby…

WeatherBug for Dash Express

Written by Mike on May 19, 2008 – 4:19 pm - 65 views

Verdict… ADD IT. WeatherBug’s new feed for Dash Express is a snap to install as one of your saved searches from the MyDash portal and gives you the ability to check weather here…there…or anywhere.

I downloaded it today, and right away got weather information for my location such as: Current conditions, Today’s Forecast, and several breakdowns including hour-by-hour, nightly, and tomorrow’s forecast. The information is concise and tells you only the things you need to know. Currently, it is featured on the login page of the portal so it should be right in front of your face…just click on it. Otherwise, search for “weatherbug”– it will pop right up.

Dash Express only $299 at Amazon!

Nice job, men.

Getting Outlook Calendar on Your Dash Express

Written by Mike on May 16, 2008 – 3:12 pm - 160 views

Hmmm… weren’t you thinking, wouldn’t it be really cool if I could get my Outlook calendar on my Dash… Well, apparently you weren’t the only one thinking that– and YES you can! How, dear boy, you ask? Well, thanks to the people at FUNAMBOL you can do just that using your Dash Express and the myFUNAMBOL portal. Log into the MyDash portal, search for calendar, create your account at FUNAMBOL and have your Outlook calendar events zipped right to your Dash. Righteous. Take a peek below for details:

Nice, huh? Since Dash has opened its API to developers, expect a bunch of new applications for the device to be popping up in the near future. Those of you with some time can read about it here, or here, or maybe even here.

One of these new apps which I’m sure will be a big hit is Trapster. I only took a real brief look at this, but this application lets users report speed traps and red light cams. Imagine the value of having one of those alerts pops up as you are zipping down the interstate. Sound useful?

What? You haven’t seen enough videos today? OK, here’s one more from Trapster. This demo does not include the Dash Express, however it gives an overview of how the system works.

That it. Have a great weekend!
